Review of the short film "Hallucination" by Mohammad Eshraghi
Hallucination films have their place in modern cinema today. These films, which show most of the human illusions caused by drugs and hallucinogens, generally deal with the loneliness of the modern man and his unfulfilled dreams, which are very successful examples of such films in world cinema.
The film Hallucination written and produced by Mohammad Eshraghi is made in the same genre. Six drug addicts followed Shahab to take them to a place full of drugs and monkeys. These six men are one of the aspects of Shahab's character, which he imagines in his group of friends and finally kills one of them (perhaps all of them).
Of these six selves, one is a lover of the profession and an opponent, one is a disciple, one is carefree, one is afraid and the other is a mediator. Another person is constantly hallucinating and has locked on the topic that shows the face of Shahab's illusions. In fact, in his illusions, Shahab sees the story of his life and different aspects of his disintegrated, isolated, and failed personality in the bodies of other people whom he leads, and finally with the face of his professional and failed lover. who has committed murder, gets into trouble, and starts an internal war that leads to his suicide.
However, the psychological aspects mentioned above are commendable. But the film is somewhat weak in directing and portraying everything it intended to express. The unreal world of the completely real character is shown to the viewer, and the film does not present any illusory images to the viewer until the end of a few minutes. This topic confuses the viewer until the last few minutes. On the other hand, not getting close to Shahab's inner world (despite showing his inside) makes the misunderstood main character die in the viewer's mind and not immortal.
