The film is the story of a journey; Villagers who want to go to a hospital in the city to visit their elder, a driver who does not move because of an empty seat, and Jafar, whose arrival changes their journey.

Director's Statement: 

The film bases its theme on greed and superstition and tries to challenge it.

Khorshid is a teenage shepherd whose great interest in Ney Anban (an iranian musical instrument) causes events for him and his herd.

Director's Statement: 
This film is the result of a pain, the local instrument of NeyAnban in the south of Iran is still abandoned .

Director's Biography:


Alireza Sohouli, born on 1996 in Dayyer Seaport (Bushehr province) and BA in television directing from Tehran Radio and Television University.


Attending the Festival for the Youth Cinema Association (fifty-eighth period - Arvand Festival with the sinister short film), the Picture of the Year Festival (the fifteenth period with to go short film, the sixteenth period with the sinister short film, and the eighteenth period with the Red like fire shortfilm) and the eighth period Cultural Festival of the Ministry of Health - Simorgh (with a to go short film - nominated for best film) as a filmmaker.


About "superstition"

Superstition is any belief or practice considered by non-practitioners to be irrational or supernatural, attributed to fate or magic, perceived supernatural influence, or fear of that which is unknown. 



In the short film “sinister” a society believes that a Neyanban “a musical instrument”has a bad fortune for them and its superstition.
Defy superstition day
Defy Superstition Day is celebrated on September 13. The 13th of the month is a significant number, and it’s the day when many people are defying superstitions around the world. The etymology of ‘superstition’ is from the Latin word ‘superstition,’ which means “to stand over or above.”


It describes the belief in or practice of events or processes that are not explained by science or reason. There are superstitious beliefs held in every culture. You might be surprised to learn that these superstitions may have started with very logical reasoning and, over time, got blown out of proportion.
About "Greed"
Greed is a human trait that leads a person to desire wealth. In religious and folk teachings of Iran, greed is mentioned as one of the bad human traits and a way for demons to enter the human soul.


The short film "Red Like fire" is about consequences of greed by using this concept in the form of a small society.
