For nearly 5 decades, half of Iran's population has been banned from singing. Women in Iran do not have the right to sing, hold concerts and even play instruments individually or in groups. This law has cut off half of the people from the society. In recent years, strict restrictions have gone even beyond the female artists themselves and have been imposed on their male colleagues as well. The documentary My Homeland tells the story of one of these women.
