Interview with Zhila Mohammadshahi director of "The Rooster" short movie

- What was your motivation for making the film?

To depict my favorite world with a feature called cinema, and what I see can be seen by others and I can make the real world and our mind tangible. Because reality has always hidden behind a curtain and its beyond what can be seen.

- How did the idea of the film come to you?

I'm a good idea creator and I can create a character or situation by considering the position of it. It's not a hard work for me.

- What is your main goal of filmmaking in Iran?

The goal is more important than a geographical area. A geographical area only can provide a feature called location and characters in that area. But if it is a general and complete view, it can act abroad or have a collective empathy. So, it doesn't matter where I am, I'm a filmmaker.

- How concerned is the subject of the movie and why did you choose this one?

It is very important. Men who suffer from anonymity and injury can create an insecure society and they are challenging their interests too, it can be either consciously or unconsciously.

- How did you come to these cast and crew and what are your criteria for selection?

I'm a lucky person. My cast includes of a film crew and a sound Recorders. I had to consider my budget. Well, the good thing is all the factors, from nature to the locals and these cast of four, were able to provide me with significant help, in a way that the work went very well and I thank God a thousand times for everything.

- What were the Problems with the film production?

Problems are everywhere.  In a society that should be safer than everywhere but is not ... finding a producer, finding and coordinating locations and casts was hard. But the good part is that I can enjoy the principle of work and I know how to get through problems.

-Tell us about the positive points and good memories in making, producing, writing the script, finding the crew or any other subject that can inspire the filmmakers?

Good points of making a movie are the result. When you see it done right, your tiredness turns into a sweetness that makes you proud of yourself and your efforts.

- Tell us about the film funding and the challenges?

The question itself is a challenge. When you take the first steps and no one knows you, you have to invest the work yourself. Well, it is definitely hard work, but it is possible and it can be as productive for you as several courses and classes. As soon as you learn how to deal with the problems of the film, it becomes clear that you are a filmmaker otherwise you have to stop it all and work on another part.

- What are your expectations of your movie?

See my movie in between 10 to 15 successful attendances in good festivals ‌.
