A short review of "Pandora"
Talking about serious social issues in short films is a difficult task. Because in terms of time, it’s harder to find the clue and split the problem. But in one-minute films, this method of expression is harder, because, in addition to expressing the filmmaker's problem, the audience must also give the point at the same time and realize the depth of the problem. In the one-minute film Pandora, the director uses the myth of Pandora and the box to show a woman's suffering (or human suffering). The director intelligently refers the viewer to the name of his film and trusts their knowledge. So, by relying on the myth and the knowledge of the viewer, he manages to talk about endless human suffering in a very short time and with the usual cinematic tools, and like the myth, he leads men, women, and their suffering to hope. Because what is left in Pandora's box is hope, and the character of the movie looks for hope in his Pandora's box.
The film creates its world in a tangible way in the mind of the audience by relying on its name.
