Rabid Theatre

SYNOPSIS:
“Rabid” starts from a catwalk. At the very beginning of the play, the audience is faced with a fashion show but gradually it turns into something else. So, it gets to a point where costumes don’t matter anymore and what happens to these people starts to matter. From this point on, people are led by the system. These people come to a genderless state and the catwalk actually becomes the whole wide city... ( this play is totally without any dialogues and the catwalk format will continue throughout the play)

Director's statement

My show shaped from the heart of the society and the world that I living in; Tehran.
For me Tehran is a symbol of poverty, capitalism, regret, cavity, immigrate and etc. there are so many talking bodies and silent tongues, by the way I think my work is worldwide and basically, it’s a real concern for modern man.
This work takes time quadruple more than my other works. The work was a concern of the whole team and this makes everything real.
Because of our performing method and having less experiences in our theatre; The show was hard to connect with the usual theatre audience.
At the end, the concept of “rabid” is a produce of every body’s ignore the ambit.

Perform Method

This show can be performed on off-stages and not regular scenes but it needed a ceiling or a roof. For example, at a theatre lobby, a garage, an old factory and every place that has a least 12 meters width (the longer is better)
There is no sketch for stage design and costumes. We use the costumes in a different way and they have a large volume but, there is no sketch.
About designing stage and light: these issues can place in different ways in different spaces and they’re not immobile. The only matter is having audiences on two sides, 13 meters width and a light for the scene.
The cast must be 10 persons at least so they can perform the show. the alternate way to perform the show is travelling just 3 persons from Iran and the other actors can be from the destination country, with 2 weeks rehearsal we can produce a common work.
The most important thing about this show is the stage designing needs don’t need any constructions. We just need to a 70 inches LCD TV and the other accessories can be portable things carried by the actors.
